Why Mountain Range Cottages?

As the cost to maintain our family land continued to climb, it was getting to the point that we could no longer afford it. We had a decision to make. Do we sell off the land? Do we keep it? If we keep it, how do we pay the taxes and upkeep?

So… in an effort to keep the Parsons land in the family, we decided we’d try renting out cottages. We thought, why not? It should work. We live in the most beautiful part of Gros Morne National Park. We have the room as our property spans over 10 to 15 acres. There’s a brook and trail access to the center of town, only a 5 minute walk. Why wouldn’t people want to stay here? We decided to give it a try!

27 years ago we built 2 cottages to test the waters. It was a great success, so we decided to try it again the next summer and built a few more cottages. Mountain Range Cottages was born!

Over the years, we’ve added more cottages, and facilities. We’ve worked on developing the land and have added gardens, picnic areas and firepits for our guests enjoyment. Which earned us a 4 Star rating with Canada Select these past 8 years.

During the years, we have met some amazing people, some who return year after year. Some have become more friends/family than guest and we feel truly blessed that they continue to choose our home for their visit to Rocky Harbour.

Our vision is to continue to grow and evolve so we can continue to meet the needs of our present and future guests.
